DeSantis has been slammed by critics in the media since the start of the pandemic over his opposition to government-imposed mask and vaccine mandates. In 2020, DeSantis was accused by a Democratic politician of going on a "killing spree" for opposing mask mandates and a Vanity Fair headline from September of this year referred to the governor as an "angel of death."
At the same time Florida reported the lowest amount of new cases in the country per capita, coronavirus cases are surging in many states where strict lockdown orders were issued by Democratic governors.
Michigan, where Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer imposed some of the most controversial restrictions in the nation during the height of the pandemic, leads the nation in daily coronavirus cases per capita.

I hate coofshitters but the deep south has simply been a few months ahead of every development, good or bad. They look good now because they looked bad a few months ago. It happened in mid/late 2020 too, they got the big summer wave and it died down in the fall when everyone else started getting it. If the cycle continues it'll happen again.
The real story is that despite all the fighting about how to fight coof or protect your economy, nothing you do in terms of state policy really matters.

Commissioned another 10k person challenge trial to determine covid spread conditions in a variety of situations and causes, effect of # viral particles, airflow, age, situation, indoors, time, vaccine status, tracking particle movement with air, anything else
Immediately authorize mRNA vaccine makers to use any new variant’s genetic code in already approved viruses
(This ones out there) Take new variants, knockout the parts that make them particularly virulent, and spray them over big cities
Order buildings to max out ventilation system airflow and install filters that were also tested to ensure viral blockage
Funded, tested, and rapidly rolled out fast tests
