The tipping question splits the antiwork subreddit in two. "If you can’t afford to tip. Stay home. You’re too poor to go out." :usa: :gigachad:

What about at McDonalds? How much should I tip for a $5 meal?

Wait, you guys haven't been tipping your McDonalds drive-thru cashier 15%?

please explain why Ineed to voluntarily give my hard earned wages to someone else who chooses to remain in this profession?

:marseyhmm:

Tipped workers are the ones holding back wages because they can make much more as tipped workers. And why should the waiter who carries the food to you get 20% of the total, while the cook who prepared the food and the dishwasher who washes the plates and the cleaner who cleaned the place get 0%? This is just ridiculous entitlement.

Yep, thanks guy - there's a reason servers don't fight harder for eliminating tipping. Most days they can barely put in an order correctly, why did anyone ever expect class solidarity?

RIP antiwork

I don't tip, not because of some "hurr employers should pay a living wage" nonsense, but because I just don't like waitresses and want to make their day worse

Every server expects a small percentage of tables to not tip; it’s not an effective way to make their day worse alone. What you should do:

  • make multiple requests for things, but explicitly not use them. Ask for extra silverware, but leave it obviously untouched.

  • Order a glass of ice along with another drink, let the ice fully melt in full view.

  • Go near the kitchen door, loudly request that you get some service, but get back to the table before they figure out whether you were the one that said it.

  • if the manager walks by, ask them loudly “is our server new?” Don’t worry, the server will hear you.

  • do tip, but make it like $2. The purposeful tiny amount hurts more than none at all.

t. Waited tables at an Outback for a summer. It was a fun job tbh

  • When ordering, mumble incomprehensibly. When the server goes “Huh?” and tries to ask for clarification, keep cutting them off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing your hand shut in front of their face.

  • Try to walk out without paying the bill, pretend to be tired and not hear the server calling after you.

  • Keep loudly yawning when the server lists the bill.

  • Ask for a separate bill for every item “to prevent any electrical infetterence" when paying by card.

Give them a big tip but then ask them to 'give it to the manager for having such a nice establishment'
