The only ones with normal surnames are muggle borns/half bloods. Even the Potters were taken out of the pureblood list because their surname was common among muggles.

In all honesty I think Rowling's naming is one of her strongest traits in HP. One look at a characters name and you almost instantly grasp what their personality is and what role they're supposed to play
And yeah you get your Cho Chang or Parvati Patil (or Seamus Finnegan lol) but it doesn't really bother me
