i think theres a lot of exageration of how much living in china sucks but theres still some truth to it

if i were to bet its about as bad as living in ukraine before war

I'm not so sure.

Ukraine was pretty dreary and backwards, but I don't think it matches the hellscapes you get in some of the more poor industrial areas of China.

And even if you go to the better parts of each country: I loved spending a month in Odessa, but I wanted to blow my brains out after 2 weeks in Shanghai.

IMO having been in both urban living in both is basically the same as the west but generally rural living is still quite a bit nicer in the west.

The have all the amenities of western cities but you make a lot less on average so the lifestyle's different
