Calm down. You may be blowing this out of proportion.

I assume nobody was hurt.

What are you more upset about? The fact that you caused an accident, or the fact that your insurance may go up? Or are you worried about the legal consequences?

I caused an accident in 2010. I straight-up crashed into the guy in front of me. I was 25 years old. No one was hurt. I called the cops, and the cop charged me with a misdemeanor, for crashing into a stopped car (the guy I was crashed into was stopped at a red light.)

Long shory stort, I went in front of a judge, and the cop was technically prosecuting me, but I said, "yes, your honor" and "no, your honor" and I got my potential misdemeanor reduced to an 'infraction.' There was no legal consequence. Whether my insurance premium went up, i don't know. I just pay it.

In other words, calm down. You'll be okay. I assume South Africa has the same law as my united state. Again, I assume you didn't hurt anyone. Just meet the judge and tell him, "yes sir, I was looking for traffic over my right shoulder, and I missed the traffic in front of me."

If you did hurt someone, well, may God have mercy on your soul.
