Zelenskkky Says He's "Sure" That Ukraine Will Become An EU Member - /r/europe Not So "Sure"

https://old.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/1dodgwi/zelensky_says_hes_sure_ukraine_will_become_eu/

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on June 25 he was confident that Ukraine would become a full member of the European Union.

"As of today, we have full confidence β€” Ukraine will definitely become a full member of the European Union," Zelensky said in his evening address.

"Now, the focus is on the technical work between Ukraine and the EU, adapting our system to the EU, and Europe's political will to make the European project truly complete."

I feel sorry for him, but he and Ukraine need to understand that people never truly supported Ukraine, they just hate Russia. And the latter is a good thing.

I mean, westoids do hate russia for the most part, but let's not pretend it's undeserved. Why should we let them invade countries as they please? It's 100% gonna bite us in the butt sooner or later.

This is actually an interesting question. What is worse, a lawyer or an actor? :marseythinkorino:

I've never needed to hire an actor.

So the answer is simple and the question is not interesting.

He's worse than an actor - he's an actor who got to play the part of the heroic leader in reality while others pay the price for his narcissism.

To be fair someone's going to kill him the moment he stops being useful

I'm honestly not sure whether I would support Ukraine in Europe. I'm not European, but I feel they'd be too much of a fricking pain in the fricking butt and drain our economy so I'm not sure.

They need to sort their shit out first. War aside, they are super corrupt from top to bottom. Everyone creams off the top , scams and bribes endemic. Years of being in the soviet Union left a dirty mark that needs washing out. And Russia still has its fingers there even though they are fighting.

Do you know how Corruption Perception Index is calculated for your β€œrich western” country to in the end get one number to characterize all of complex cultural, and economic factors?

And even after that the β€œUkraine corruption” or β€œEastern Europe” is just something that you hear from everywhere without much analysis.

I am not talking that corruption is not present or it's not a problem. I am saying that it's all much more nuanced then what you hear from your surroundings and take it on as your own genuine thought.

At the end of the day you need to understand that it's just you as a perhaps EU citizen having a thought, which I respect. But you also need to understand that your businesses need cheap labor, your politicians need more population, and your children will need a peaceful future.

And all of that goes beyond just mere β€œcorrupt country”. We are no longer living in a piece time, even in EU, and geopolitics is playing ever increasing role. In that case you're keeping your allies close, regardless of their internal problems, as long as they are serving the role you need them to serve.

Just imagine a world where Ukraine is left alone, and Russia takes over. And in an instant you get ten million fresh soldiers at your border. Are you okay with that? Are you ready to invest trillions in your army? Or would you invest billions in Ukraine? That's the political choice now.

I am not trying to change your mind, I'm just saying that there ate much more at stake than just cliched β€œUkraine corruption”. And actors well beyong EU citizen get to decide the future.

Sorry for chaotic messaging, downvote if you don't have anything to say. Also I'm not talking about joining tomorrow. I'm talking about giving a chance and a hope to Ukraine. I think hope is important.

Hope is important! :marseyxd:

If Ukraine really enters the European Union then i will believe in Santa Claus.

It most likely will though?

It may take 15 years or more, and/or multiple speeds/tiers EU, but it's more likely than not, that it eventually will.

:#soyjakanimeglasses:

Might take 100 years but eventually! It will!

Ukraine has shittons of great agricultural land.

Which is why they'll never be allowed to join the EU.

Other member states' agricultural economies would crash.

Did you not see all the Polacks blocking highways due to grain imports from Ukraine?

Plus, you know, buffer state.

Is already is, so again no need to change.

I hope zekringesky gets assassinated by some Ukringe military commanders for being an absolutely worthless grifter who basically sold his nation's sovereignty down the potty via gay war to both Russia and now the globalists to become a welfare state. I hope Russia just fricking dominates them so we never hear about it or have our tax dollars sent to third world euryup shitholes again
