We're back today with tards on threads, Instagram's attempt to be the new twitter.

What is with people and Bridgerton? I've never watched it; it looks like absolute slop

Anyone who thinks otherwise:

I think it's the appeal of something seemingly whimsical and higher class than what many Americans see daily.

Tbh I don't blame some of them, the idea of living in a historical building in one of the most historically influential cities in the world sounds so cool.

Does anyone remember this movie?

https://i.rdrama.net/images/1720462070349231.webp

It's about a girl from a cool version of San Francisco who learns that she's the princess of Genovia and she fights with her friends, kisses boys, and is forced to balance books on her head (?) and ultimately decide where she will live (in Genovia :marseyunamused: )

No one was allowed to watch it in my house because my parents correctly identified it as cringeslop about kissing boys

:marseyitsallsotiresome: it had American school girls talking about "Genovia" on the playground, in the cafeteria, at church, and making pretend games around the subject

they get real mad and almost no one wants to be friends when you start talking about royalty getting overthrown and beheaded

I'm just saying that it seems like a politically unstable little nation that hides it's royalty across the world for whatever reason... idk didn't watch the movie. I was allowed to watch documentaries about the Romanovs tho

Holy shit I just watched this like 2 days ago

Can confirm that magically becoming royalty overnight through complete chance is THE foid power fantasy. Makes me surprised that lottery ticket sales aren't primarily women but that's beside the point.

Genovia (phone autocorrected to "genocide" right there lmao) is just a plot device anyway, country could have been anything. The main draw is that everyone around Anne Hathaway suddenly learns she's super special (despite living in a literal 'Hey Arnold' tier dope renovated roof top condo in her mom's downtown building). The most shocking part of the movie was that the cost of fixing up a restored mustang cost $400 and was considered an exorbitant amount of money to the characters. Then Anne promptly ruined the interior of the car by carelessly leaving the car top down in the pouring rain

Lotteries could dramatically increase female sales if they threw an exclusive "Lotto Ball" with celebrities and influencers there :marseythonk:

with a subtitle about funding cancer research or education or whatever the frick to make it more wholesome and dampen scandals

money just doesn't hit with lots of women unless it's a clear path to wearing a sequined dress

Otherwise it's just stress of admitting, yes, you're a goombler. Cringe!

Why does everything close at 11pm?

Historically because factory owners didn't want their wageslaves out drinking too late when they had to be in for six am ropeweaving shift or whatever.

Nowadays I think it's just because Brits are boring and lame. (Also because they have stronger worker's rights laws so there aren't very many 24 hour Target and CVS equivalents)

I do think living historical places is charming, though. One time a boy took me out in a rowboat on the Serpentine and it was really sweet and I felt like I was in a Jane Austen novel :marseywholesome: (I brought what I thought was a cute parasol but then it turned out to be an umbrella because :marseybritbongitsover: )

When ever there is an article in Irish newspapers about the British royal family Irish people all comment "who cares", "this isn't news" and "why is there an article?". But it's always on top of the "most read" list.

That's interesting! In the US, articles about the royals are constantly being shoved by journos and algorithms.
