Did you watch voices of a distant star?

I loved kimi no na wa(pls no bully) and binge watched all of his stuff after it, that one felt second best to me. 5 cms or garden of words are way better animated and actual stories but still. Only that one gave me the same emotional twangs. Tenki no ko unironically felt like trash comparatively, the songs are good but it felt very stale compared to the raw energy in kimi no na wa.

I probably did watch it, though tbh I cant remember for sure, but Im fairly certain I binged everything from Makoto Shinkai after seeing 5cm per second, which is one of my favorite films. Other stuff from him was all still good, but doesnt hold up to 5cm, it being completely void of anything supernatural (unlike in tenki no ko or kimi no na wa) makes it seem like its just telling the sad story of some random guy, that could have happened just like that in real life. That movie hit different when I first watched it. Plus the great animation, scenery and music just makes it perfect. Its insane how good all these movies look, these wide sceneries like the shot in the post look better than real life tbh.

I saw tenki no ko in a cinema, and I wish I saw the other movies in a cinema too, it really was an experience. Especially when all the asians started clapping in the end lol.

Now I think Ill watch 5cm again this evening, its the perfect winter movie to watch and get depressed :marseydepressed:

Well, I just watched it again and now Im depressed. Great movie. Im a sucker for sad endings.

Disregarding that, have you seen 'Shigatsu wa kimi no uso' by chance? If not you should. I should rewatch it this winter. Great drama anime.
