What? What Remains of Edith Finch only takes a few hours start to finish. You must have pretty much given up instantly on reaching the forest because that section doesn't take long at all. (1067)
Yep, hence the title (-89)

Honestly that is hilarious OP. The two branching paths are literally just for an achievement, it makes no difference which you take, you don't even need to enter the forest and if you do, going through the forest takes maybe 30 seconds? A minute tops. This is the equivalent of booting up Mario Bros, seeing the first jump and thinking "geez that looks like a lot of hassle..." and quitting. (3903)

Well, they download it because it's free. (51)

Not really immediately but I finished the story in Diablo 4 and felt no desire to keep going. The story was pretty good better than the prequels. But man that end game on release was abysmal. It killed my interest in the game and Diablo has always been about end game grind so I feel it counts. (-1)

I legitimately don't understand all the love FF gets. The games look terribly boring.
At one point a few of my friends were into FF14 (the MMO one) and I watched some of them quest. There's precious little combat, and the combat in the game looks like you could do it with your eyes closed. Most of the quests were just running back and forth between towns talking to people.
There was another one (maybe FF9?) that I watched one of them play. It was generic turn-based slop. No idea how people play those turn-based RPGs. There wasn't really a strategy and you seemed to spend most of your time either (a) watching animations or (b) navigating menus.

It's because theres not really anything like it made by people who give a shit, so it gets a pass. The concept of "compelling characters in a very long epic style story" was still a novelty in vidya. Plus they had huge play for dollar values and relatively good mechanical design for the massive duration.
FFXIII killed the franchise by wasting everyone's time and demonstrating they didnt give a shit anymore. Then 15 and 16 were great concepts that weirdly turned into flaming dumpster fires at the halfway mark.

16 felt like they ran out of time and/or money halfway through development and went "ehhh frickit just push something out."

You could say that about 15 too.

15 felt like the director didn't want to make a final fantasy game and was just interested in doing fishing and photography with some bros in a fantasy world. Then when they realised he hadn't done anything for 8 chapters they just shoved in a completely incomprehensible ending

just DONT UNDERSTAND turn based RPGs. There was nothing on TV, you'd used up all your AOL minutes and your friends weren't answering their landline
Might as well grind for 10 hours

Lol I'm no zoomer
In those cases I'd probably play some civ 2, which can also burn hours of your time, but at least has some component of strategy to it.

They were great because you could leave it running and fit in a bit before school. Or play in bed till you passed out without being fricked.

MMO combat has always been shit. I stopped playing FF since the 7th one. JRPGs are very straight forward and too easy to beat.

Aren't JRPGs famously grindy? That sounds like hard work.

Some of them, FF4 imo. Chrono Trigger did it best, almost 0 grind in that one.

FF14 is an MMO that probably has the highest percentage of foids as the player base so it makes sense that it's boring and easy to play.

JRPGs relegate any strategy to boss fights only for the most part. Which you can ovecome by grinding levels which most kids are r-slurred and choose the latter.
People like these games for the characters and story.
Did you and your friends ride a small yellow bus as kids?

You're calling me r-slurred bc I thought the little combat that there was in FF14 was simplistic?
Are you arguing that it somehow has deep and challenging mechanics or something, and I'm just too r-slurred to notice?

All MMO combat is simplistic.
I can only assume you have no idea how an MMO works based on how stupid your comment was.
Doing group dungeons/bosses is the only real gameplay loop with any challenge and you are out here complaining your friends are doing fetch quests by choice.

I watched them do some dungeons and they were the same.
Although I also noticed that the portion of time spent doing actual combat like dungeons was far lower than other MMOs I've watched/played.

Which is why I can't stand Kojimashit. Just boring bullshit cutscenes between the "gameplay" (walking a few steps).

Played Yakuza 0, it turned boring and repetitive, and for some reason the end had to consist of like 90 minutes of citscenes, switching from textbox vn, to in game, to prerendered. What do people see in this franchise?
