The moving pic compression on this site leaves terrible artifacts on most of my browsers that don't happen if you open the original files that were submitted on the same browser

This is a WebKit bug (so applies to Safari :chadstevejobs: and various embedded browsers)

I first found it in Dec 2021 https://rdrama.net/post/18459/marseycapywalking-megathread-for-bugs-and-suggestions/864089#context

But it was closed in June 2022 as "not our problem" :blackwomanspeaking:

I fully understand you not wanting to support a fricking nightly version of a rare browser

... but I also use firefox nightly on android bc the extension situation on the stable release is terrible. I forget the details but I think they basically killed off a huge portion of the extension API before actually preparing a replacement (the replacement has been in nightly for years I think?).
