lol i will resort to using yt-dlp to download the video and just watching everything locally if i have to and that cannot be stopped no matter how hard jewtube tries

Google has really cranked up the war on yt-dlp and other Youtube alternatives. Used to be they wouldn't purposely try to break them and maybe a few times a year they would release an update that would incidentally break yt-dlp. Now it feels like every week they're making changes specifically to break it.

as i am typing this i haven't had any problems but i know what you're talking about, god only knows how long it'll be before google demands using some official client that you install on your computer making it the only way to watch anything on youtube

i have a hosts file on my computer with over a million domain names, my vpn (mullvad) has an option to block ads, ublock origin on my browser, and then adguard home on my firewall at the network level
