I normally remind people that the mark of the beast can't be credit cards or RFID chips or whatever they're afraid of because the punishment is burning forever. Β The text says it's the name or number of the beast you worship on your forehead or hand.
That said, the MAGA hats could very easily be said to be the name of a beast that some these people treat with worship. Β So if that's it, then it's not a metaphor: it's directly the name of a beast that is worshipped, and that beast is inherently and transparently antithetical to Christianity.
