The ones I fondly remember are Ninjjer's 'I hate that the term p-dophile is starting to get used to refer to people attracted to children as opposed to child male feminists' and Salvador's 'The international elite and banks know that Ukraine won't last long in the war because McDonalds sold off their assets in Russia to their regional manager and will buy them back for pennies once the war ends '(both of these examples being paraphrased, I don't remember the exact wording)
Carp's opinions on movies come dangerously close too.

rdrama's views on gun ownership are a bit r-slurred. Everyone gets hillbilly af whenever the topic comes up and get genuinely triggered if you suggest that the local chavs probably shouldn't have such an easy ability to kill at distance. I wonder where that one comes from because it goes beyond just the typical reddit contrarianism.

The problem is gun control people don't care about the poor "chavs" (keep yourself safe for being British) and do nothing to stop their ownership of guns. In fact it is already illegal for the gross majority of them to have guns. In fact California decriminalized owning a stolen gun while making owning a normal AR a felony.
If current gun laws aren't being used to stop criminals why would gun owners support more rules?

there's a total lack of trust among gun owners that compromise is possible at all. concessions made in the past have only encouraged further encroachment and if you ask the average anti-gun voter or politician what their optimal level of gun rights is the answer is none. if an assault weapons ban were passed today
the rhetoric would immediately shift to what a massive issue handgun crime is 
and once assault handguns are banned they'll find an excuse to move on to assault shotguns and assault sniper rifles 
until there's nothing left.
if someone asked me if i supported more mental health screening for gun purchases, i have to say no - not because i want lunatics buying guns, but because the mental health industry is staffed full of people who don't think anybody should have guns and would see it as their moral imperative to stop as many gun purchases as possible.
most gun policy is like that. there's usually some compromise position that i would hypothetically agree with, if i had any confidence that i wouldn't get stabbed in the back by an immediate push to "meet us in the middle" once again

IMO it stems from a hatred of what is perceived to be paternalism from the pro gun control side. I think a lot of people who are perceived to be contrarians basically don't like moralizing busy bodies and do not want them to be in charge of what they can and cannot do.
