When you get down to it this is actually a really good phrase. Because what can America be if it was unburdened by the mistakes it had made in its past: aka slavery etc.

Yeah but the problem is it basically makes it sound like America has been this terrible place that we need to make better.

Obama was way better about this messaging, he had more of a patriotic message that this is the best country in the world and we are always moving the needle forward. Way more effective and prideful, just my opinion

Kamala has no message. She's the face of every coked out California used car salesman. Her stance on anything depends on how saying it can benefit her, and who she's talking to. Her failures are never her own, or they simply never happened. She has no supporters for a reason.

So every other politician

No, it's definitely outstanding even for a politician. Moments like her shouting out that if Trump is ordering the vaccine she doesn't want it, or when she responded to an interviewer questioning why she hadn't gone to the border she was placed in charge of with "well I haven't been to Europe", which I'm sure she thought was clever. But uh... Wow

Eh I think she's pulling off an okay balance. She's been going hard on the "Freedom" motto too

The guy whose pastor was Jeremiah Wright was patriotic? Whose wife said him being elected was the first time she felt proud of her country? And who constantly played up racial politics by saying shit like "if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon"?

It's a good line that you say once during an important speech (to a black audience) and hope that the crowd goes wild, and then maybe it becomes a campaign slogan.

Kamala however posted it on Twitter first, then started repeating it everywhere in a variety of tones, regardless of the context, and no one ever cared, but she just kept saying it and acting like it was profound.

It's like bad comedy, at some point you just have to realize the audience doesn't like the joke and drop it, but it took her years to realize it.
