You can concrete over 1000 shanty towns and yet the residents of those towns don't suddenly stop doing female circumcision or engaging in tribal feuds in the middle of a capital city, or get finance jobs

I am pretty sure tribal feuds do get harder in a city when everybody is working in different corners of the city and you are surrounded by way more people from different communities.

Not even close, they get way worse. The civil war in Liberia eventually had checkpoints out of Monrovia being controlled by ethnic fighting groups and if you had the bad luck of being the wrong race they killed you on the spot.

Kind of. But if it's anything like Pakistan, high immigration from rural areas keeps tribalism alive. It takes many generations (and low rural birthrates) to break out of that mindset.

That cracked me up. So many comments in those threads were talking about "Atlanta", and all I could think was, "None of these people have any idea how far 'Metro Atlanta' extends." Because I'll tell you right now, if you call something outside the Perimeter (I-285, for those not from around here) "Atlanta", you're wrong.
Those of us living OTP only tell people outside Georgia "I'm from Atlanta" because it's easier than saying, "I'm from Marietta/Tucker/Jonesboro/etc.", and then having to explain where that is. Heck, there are multiple places ITP that aren't "Atlanta" the way outsiders think of it, but no one on this website or any other wants to hear about the differences between Chamblee, Decatur, College Park, etc.
And Barrow County? That's only even "Metro Atlanta" because of whatever arcane reasoning the federal government uses to define that sort of thing. Nothing that isn't Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb, or Clayton should ever be referred to as "Atlanta" by anyone for any reason. But it gave the cumskins of rDrama the opportunity to use their favorite word, so I knew any explanation of how wrong they were would fall on deaf ears.
