I AM a citizen. I've been frustrated too about this thing. But there's a difference between frustration and xenophobia and racism. People are using their frustration as an excuse to dehumanize an entire group of people and that isn't okay. At the end of day they're not going anywhere. Being hateful towards them will probably lead to worse outcomes such as causing them to become guarded, distrusting, and fear for their safety.imo they genuinely seem confused and are just trying to figure this new environment out. Blame the elected officials for their poor management of this city, not an entire group of people you know nothing about. (5)

Why are you so bad at this? The video of the woman and the cat happened in Canton, not Springfield, and she wasn't an illegal immigrant or from Haiti. The article I just shared explains that, along with the dozens of other major outlets who've fact-checked it today. And posting video clips of claims being made without evidence in local commission meetings aren't evidence. The local police have refuted these claims and the folks making the claims haven't been able to provide verification.Sorry you're so gullible. Don't bother replying. (3)

Yeah. I remember reading an article a couple months ago about the difficulty of integrating Haitian students who had undergone trauma. One example was a little girl whose pet cat had been killed and eaten by gangster back in Haiti. Horrible.
Soโ€ฆit's a thing that happens. Is it happening in Ohio? Dunno, I don't live there. But I wouldn't underestimate how awful and dehumanizing conditions have gotten in Haiti. People can stop caring about things like companion animals when that point is reached, even after they've reached a safe place. So no, I wouldn't be shocked if at least once incident had occurred. Nor would most people who get how bad things have gotten there I think.
