"nobody called it in" is not the same as "we didn't immediately dismiss the report".
Police can decide whether or not to act on a call for minor crimes like this.
Like, the vast majority of "reckless driver" calls just get an "ok, thanks for your call" and maybe a quick "hey keep an eye out for a black Nissan driving like shit". But, sometimes they'll actually try and contact the owner of the reckless car.
I know the example kinda went the opposite direction, but sue me. Most driving calls are ignored despite it involving illegal acts, so it's not impossible for police to ignore "stolen cat" calls

Yeah. I remember reading an article a couple months ago about the difficulty of integrating Haitian students who had undergone trauma. One example was a little girl whose pet cat had been killed and eaten by gangster back in Haiti. Horrible.
Soโฆit's a thing that happens. Is it happening in Ohio? Dunno, I don't live there. But I wouldn't underestimate how awful and dehumanizing conditions have gotten in Haiti. People can stop caring about things like companion animals when that point is reached, even after they've reached a safe place. So no, I wouldn't be shocked if at least once incident had occurred. Nor would most people who get how bad things have gotten there I think.

I AM a citizen. I've been frustrated too about this thing. But there's a difference between frustration and xenophobia and racism. People are using their frustration as an excuse to dehumanize an entire group of people and that isn't okay. At the end of day they're not going anywhere. The article I just shared explains that, along with the dozens of other major outlets who've fact-checked it today. And posting video clips of claims being made without evidence in local commission meetings aren't evidence.
