Also, note that this comment that actually explains that it's a charity event and that the money will be donated is among the most controversial. Redditors to think they live in a cartoonish world where evil greedy CEOs orchestrate these event's just to humiliate teachoids (as if they could be humiliated futher).

For some reason it is infinitely easier to convince people that things are terrible and awful, even if they're not, than it is to convince them that actually things are OK, even if they are. It's like people are hard-wired to want to be miserable, they'll fight tooth and nail against the mere possibility of contented happiness. I honestly have no idea why.
