A settlement like this should be for a few hundred thousand at the absolute most, not a billion dollars to force irreparable bankruptcy. Getting forced to pay for the behaviour of other people who acted independently is also obviously fricked up. It doesn't matter that you think he deserves it, its a blatant abuse of the court systems to charge a man for being wrong about something. Celebrating the blatant abuse of the court system because it targeted someone you don't like it a recipe for disaster if you permit this kind of behaviour to continue. It always starts with "well he deserved it so its fine," before inevitably that precedent gets exploited for increasingly questionable cases.
