my point :marseygoodjob2: is tyrants know well enough :marseyitsallsotiresome: to leave :marseyenterpipe: average pleb alone :marseyitsdangerous: cause bothering them too much is how you get guillotined but average pleb lacks guts normally to actually :marseyakshually: die trying to unseat some central authority :marseyblart: over abstract things like liberty. Their brother :marseyilluminati2: getting tortured tho is something  else. There  have been a few regimes that repressive-Stalinist Russia :marseybabushka: or North :marseychristmaself2: Korea :marseyhwacha: but they're exceptions in most dictatorships if you visit you probably won't have much trouble  finding locals willing :marseywould: to curse :marseybombay: govt off record. That kind of permanent fear isn't good for modern :marseyartbasel: economy I think, prevents maximized consumption.

!historychads is this the most objectively wrong :marseyobamanope: thing said on this site?

Authoritarian regimes don't let you publicly talk shit about them without reprisal lmao

I try judging it but ESL beat me.

That said, authoritarian (not totalitarian) regimes do allow some degree of criticism, so long as you don't critique system itself. "Blame the boyars not the Tsar" we see on Rusdia today is one example, but you can find different degrees of acceptable critique among all autocracies

That's my point :marseylaugh: though. Publicly talk crap about the king, dictator, or emperor :marseygrapes: and see what happens

Sure you may get away with some level of criticism :marseyspotlight: against some institutions like the senate or nobles (maybe) but you cannot protest :marseymegaphone: head honcho who is the system :marseymars: itself
