Or perhaps...different people enjoy different things for different reasons? How old are you two, 12? (56)

He just said Veilguard is his personal game of the year (59)

Nooo! He's still super nice, and I appreciate his positivity in games. (-29)

They gave it an 8, Steam users gave it 73%, I don't think you guys know what bad games are or are players also wrong? (-12)

Dawg, have you played Immortals of Aveum? It was an $120 million dollar flop. I booted it up on Gamepass just to see where the heck that money went, and I can easily say it was the worst game I've played in years. Gameplay was a piss-easy mess of particle effects, and the unskippable - let me repeat this, unskippable - cutscenes had the worst, most godawful sub-MCU tier quip-a-minute dialog I've ever suffered through.I haven't played Forspoken. But I shudder at the thought that anything could be worse. It's like hearing there's something worse than Cthulu - knowing would only bring madness.I gave it more rope than I should have because I was just morbidly fascinated by how bad it was, where the money went, and good lord they even had Michael Kirkbride was writing what the heck happened. For anyone looking for a TL;DW of his reasons why:The writing is boring and feels like everyone is always happy go lucky. Rook talks to teammates like they're children.Art style looks like Pixar movie stuff and the facial animations betray any sense of emotion during scenes.Side and partner quests aren't woven into the main storyline at all and feels extremely dated. And they're basically all dialog or combat, no variety.Combat is extremely shallow and enemies are super tanky. He lowered the difficulty to easy not because it was hard, but because it was boring and took forever to kill things above that.Conversations are sterile and there aren't any dark moments like in past Dragon Age games. Feels like Bioware is protecting audiences from anything dark or scary.Lack of choice and the inability to say anything from dialog choices that might be upsetting or mean.He backs all of this up with video footage. If you wanted visually great game out of DA2, they'd need more than just 6 months. It would have required complete rebuild of all worldspaces and probably enhancing the engine further as well. Practically remake at that point. (2)

Hm? How did you jump to all of those conclusions? At the time, DA2 looked alright. Wasn't groundbreaking but I don't think people were complaining about its graphics tech. But even then graphical tweaks aren't necessarily a game engine overhaul. A major chunk of game modding community rests on graphic mods that adjust textures, replace models, and other tweaks to get the game to a desired flavor. But that was not the game's chief failing. It was the dungeon and encounter design. A lot of the dungeons were revisits or even blatantly template designs. Battle encounters were frequently using the same cadence of throwing in adds who smoke bomb in the fight once you weaken the initial encounter enough. It happens in practically every major encounter.
