We have others doing full-time remote, that's not novel here.
We do not, as far as I'm aware, scale any pay based off where you work. We have one main office so pay is based off that location. If you want more money you can always ask for more but it's not like Google where they have a matrix of different locales and pay scales.
I guarantee it didn't come with a raise, so she was making the same money, just in a much more expensive location. But you know, SF is just so hip, which is why she did it.

At his income, if he's filing as single, he's paying ~25% federal tax, ~9% California tax and ~5% FICA. So he takes home $230k. He can only contribute 22k to the 401k and I doubt his healthcare costs 1k/month, but I'll give him that. He should have at least $16k in hand per month.
The math changes completely though because he's probably married and the wife doesn't work or his monthly income would be higher. So his tax burden should be 30% instead of 40%.
He's just full of shit.

You can get a nice house in a safe/clean neighborhood for under $1.5m. I paid $5.2k for a 3br/2bd + backyard in a nice neighborhood as a rentoid. The car + insurance is insane, I paid maybe $500 a month for both when I lived in SF and was under 25.

Auto insurance is insane right now.
