anyway circlejerk aside, if anyone ever gave a shit about why the flag looked as it did
Anyway once the actual adults and vexi-neurodivergents were done discussing the ramifications and intent of the design of the flag, the commie/shitlib started screetching about the evil nature of the flag, rather than discussing the design and historic nature of its origin ect - Bascially how Anarkiddies and tankies ruined /r/PropagandaPosters
"Because, much like the state it represented, it is ugly AND wrong."
"Man, I know the Apartheid sucked, but the flag alone is a crime against Humanity."
The rest of the normally liberal, but non-r-slurred vexi-neurodivergents aren't having this performative shitlibbery.
WHY AM I BEING DOWNMARSEYD, IM ONLY BEING HISTRONIC AND POOPING UP THE NORMALLY CALM DISCUSSION OF THE THREAD
Anyways, I've heard discussion from too many wingcucks to know how to properly analyze the design philosophy of particularly infamous or powerful and influential countries and nation states.
I've heard commies state the US flags is badly designed, which i disagree with, the stars and stripes are bold and easy to replicate, while still only using 3 colours
I've heard !anticommunists state that the Soviet flags are bad, simply because they despise communists, rather than engaging upon the design and intent of symbolism, which just me at the teenagers of modern /r/PropagandaPosters

Have I been having a stroke for multiple decades or is the Union Jack symmetrical? How can it be "reversed"? If you're on the other side of the flag pole doesn't it look like this? Is something broken in my brain where I can't imagine this in 3D?
Okay eurotrash and eurolovers: If it was, then why did our mother country (ask Thomas Paine, he'll explain it) France choose to use the same colors?

This is the most r-slurred shit I've ever heard in my life. Measuring the vertical size of another ship you're looking at (let alone a flag) is extremely difficult. It's obvious what direction the enemy is horizontally. Knowing how far away he is what matters. You're almost always going to be too short or long. So an incredible amount of work went into publishing books showing exactly how tall every ship in the enemy fleet is so you could calculate that from how big it appears to you.
If you were in a situation where you were close enough to tell some very slight difference in the ship's flag, you would already be in combat. Also why in the heck would the enemy not be able to read this just as easily? What situation are you in where you're in a battle and you're very close to a friendly ship and want to show that you're in trouble but for some reason you can't use flags? If they're close enough to see your subtle flag rotation, what are you saying? Drop out of the line of battle?
I can't 100% say this guy is a total r-slur, but either him or anyone who actually did this in the 1700s was.
There are much more prosaic explanations for a lot of stuff. Like why everyone has red, white, and blue as their colors: They were the cheapest back then when dye was really expensive.

Darn, you're really mad over this, but thanks for the effort you put into typing that all out! Sadly I won't read it at all.

ACTUALLY: I think I'm something of an expert on the subject of pirate spyglasses.

Modern historian:
"pirates didn't actually exist as depicted in film and games, swashbuckling sabre fights likely never occurred. nothing cool ever happened in the past. idealising this stereotype of the 'pirate' is linked to white supremacy"

This but unironically. As a kid I didn't want the Lego pirate ship, I wanted the Lego navy ship that hunts them down and kills them.

Ive heard flying a flag upside down signals danger/distress before. So I believe what this guy is saying entirely

Yeah, I know that. I'm well aware of all hippie signals from the 1960s.
But some peepeehead on a college deferment hanging an upside down American flag out the window of his subsidized housing in NW Portland in the 1960s to signal to r-slurred sluts with gonorrhea is a lot different from a sailing ship where you're hoping that someone from a friendly country will through the clouds and smoke from several miles away and see whatever is going .
