As we all wake up to the reality that our president will once again be a lying, stealing, insurrecting nazi fascist felon, we have to acknowledge that America as we know it is over. Even through holidays and times when we should be happy - Christmas, Juneteenth, etc. - we always must have it in the back of our minds that a few things are now true:
- Free American elections are a thing of the past,
- Anyone can and will be found at their front door and arrested for speaking out against the Drumpf regime,
- If you're a trans person you will likely be disappeared by 2028,
- Any time there is a hero (like Luigi) they will simply be jailed and silenced because that's what the regime wants.
So as you're having Christmas dinner with your families or whoever know that it's all short lived. Rest today, make plans tomorrow. This country is over, and any joy to be found will soon be squashed.

Do you think it's appropriate to troll about America turning into a country that is literally as bad as South Sudan for trans people, women, etc.? If so, then sure, this is a troll. Wake up. Go to 2007-2008 threads on /r/politics, they're a time capsule of lib hysteria. I lurked on one thread from 2008 to see what it was like back then and turns out redditors talked about how Bush, McCain and the GOP were totally going to turn the US into an evangelical theocracy and end democracy with the PATRIOT Act.
I dislike Trump and find him an awful President (not because he'll turn the US into The Handmaids Tale, but because he's an incompetent populist, a liar and a bullshit vendor) but is also true that libs and dems have been crying wolf for decades while focusing on the most far-fetched hypothetical scenarios instead of tackling poor policies taken by the GOP.

It's hilarious now that all the things rebbitors correctly identified as bad about Bush/Cheney/McCain (forever war, secret torture prisons, pervasive spying, de facto suspension of the Constitution) they are now rabidly in favor of, as long as these things are used against other Americans who disagree with them on if teachers should tell your kid to cut off their peepee

People had a meltdown about Bush, but it wasn't as bad as Trump. The media was still against him, but not as gung ho as Trump. I find it funny in places like /r/neoliberal that they say the New York Times and CNN are right wing. They hated the Bush administration. Trump legit broke people's brains. 04 was the last really old school Dem coalition of white workers, women, and blacks. But Kerry got smoked in '04 and sent the Dems into the wilderness. Bush really got unpopular in 06-08 with the Iraq surge. The financial collapse was the nail in the coffin. The Obama coalition is really what's responsible for the current Dems melty nature. The 2008 Obama coalition was made up of young professionals, blacks, Latinx, in an uneasy alliance with white workers. The current state of affairs was really a result of the 2012 election. They painted Mitt fricking Romney as the most evil character on earth and 2012 was the most important election in our lifetime! Just like the 2004 and 2008 elections. Over the last 12 years or so they chipped away at that coalition by constantly purity testing so that only the white professionals, TQ+ people, and token minorities are who's left with neurotic upper middle class professional white women in the driver's seat. Trump is very much a frick you to this coalition.
