Elon is definitely a skilled businessman, but attracting talent is something he sucks at IMO. He can get away with it for
engineers because the market is shit and they don't have better options, not for SWEs tho.

I'm a SWE so I'm thinking only about SWEs tbh. Elon's companies don't attract the best software talent, and never will because he doesn't understand how to attract talent in a competitive market. I could see why they would be really prestigious as a mech eng or whatever though.
The companies that attract the best SWEs offer a ton of flexibility and/or massive comp packages. Elon doesn't believe in either.

There is no way that the Earth could successfully colonize Mars before figuring out how too make stable all year occupied colonies in Antarctica, underwater homes that last generations, or planetary anywhere on Earth travel that is one hour long at most.
Currently humans at most live around 1-2 years in Antarctica. The fastest scheduled flight takes 30 hours too get around the Earth, and you have a few novel underwater units spread across the world, almost certainly number fewer than the number of countries in the world.
