They make basically everything other than planes in modern world more competitively than any other country. How hard do you think world outside West will switch if they can give a 20% lower quote than Airbus for a well tested in Chinese market plane? I'd guess western manufacturers have 10-15 years more max. Losing global markets will mean unit costs going further up for countries that do put up a trade barrier against Chinese planes. Once ME carriers make the switch knock on effects will be irreversible. For now tho I agree airbus is better. I've taken to ensuring my plane is an airbus since the Boeing saga came out

Modern planes fly themselves. All pilots do is go through checklists. Mandated training period largely serves only to gatekeep and keep wages high, if training costs could be lessened I bet they'd earn less than dentist considering how easy and glamorous the job is.

all that training is for the .1% of times the airplane stops flying istelf and starts being on fire etc.
watch some crash deep dive videos and you can see the kinds of r-sluration that alreaty seeps into some airlines (mostly thirdies)

Not even 0.1% but in those cases as well pilots can rarely do anything exemplary(as can be seen in this case which isn't a thirdie). He didn't have flaps out nor gear down but he tried landing on a strip with a hard barrier at the end. Most pilots are UMC failsons, the ex military ones are decent because of the training but otherwise only qualification really is having enough money to pay for the course you don't need anything else to be a pilot. Life doesn't attract anyone who likes sleeping at home etc so intake quality is a bit lower than salary would imply. The more regular hazards planes face(turbulence, bird strikes) can be 100% handled by autopilot.
