I believe that a popular subreddit for my local community has been secretly infiltrated by neo-Nazis. (from /r/SubredditDrama)

>Right off the bat, I'm going to say that I am a queer punk socialist who has a personal stake in preventing Nazism from ever returning, so please understand that you do not have to agree with my political views and I don't expect you to (except frick Nazis).

>I made on this post on the most relevant subreddit for my local community, ChicagoSuburbs (please do not brigade or engage with any of the accounts), which was removed after this exchange.

>Beyond the dogwhistle username, it should be known that the community he is referring to has an ethnically Jewish population (including relatives of mine). I am 100% certain that this user is a neo-Nazi. I was banned over my interactions with this user and another homophobic neo-Nazi.

>A few days earlier, this post documenting a restaurant marketing themselves with Nazi paraphernalia was made. If you look through the replies, you'll notice multiple accounts responding to different threads with Nazi apologism (sort by controversial if you want to see extreme examples). Overnight, another post was made by what I believe to be a neo-Nazi from Washington (notably not anywherer near Chicago, Illinois), saying that they felt the "Nazi aspects of the restaurant had been misrepresented".

>Both of these posts remain up, albeit locked. My post was removed within minutes of my final edit. I will allow anyone who reads this post to consider for themselves why that might be, as I myself have no conclusion other than that Nazis are more welcome in the subreddit for my local community than the people who actually live there.

>Lastly; please do not engage with Nazi trolls once you identify them. They are using your engagement as an opportunity to platform their views as "just asking questions" while also dogwhistling to other Nazis.

It would be surprising if the city subs are actually being taken over by neonazis, but I doubt it.

If you have to tell people you're punk, are you actually punk?
