Maybe the fact checkers seem left-biased because most of the alternative facts emanate from the right. And maybe the need for 24x7 fact checking as an appendage to journ*lism emanated from the deliberate 'flood the zone with shit" strategy of the right.

I dunno, there was already some really dumb shit out there. One I remember is them "debunking" the "conspiracy theory" that certain stretches of highways in America were made to be straight so they could be emergency airfields in case of war. And their evidence was just "haha lol that's silly, you can't land a plane on a road". Now I don't know about America, but this has been done a lot around the world.

Youtube has erased this recently but they used to have a video of a C-5 Galaxy landing on the Autobahn during Reforger in the 1980s. Either erased it or the algorithm has been made r-slurred so that if you include "landing" it shows you every C-5 landing everywhere and if you include "Reforger" it's just ARMA videos. And if you just put in "C-5 Autobahn" it shows you cars.

I guess it's like 1984 where all I can say is that I swear to God I saw this and you just have to trust me.
