I was out drinking with coworkers and this new girl is 21 and was talking about this creepy guy at work who just kinda flirts with everyone, and she said something like "I'm literally a child he needs to leave me alone."
I called her out immediately by pointing out that she was drinking legally at a bar, working a job that has a 401k. A lot of millennials never grew up because they missed out on that adult transition phase between 16 and 20 because college was dumbed down and essentially just high school, and the job market at the time was mostly part time, bullshit jobs you could've done in high school as well. You never really got that "feet to the fire" moment of independence and danger and responsibility.
With zoomers, they've all missed out on that. Covid made everything such a joke. The job market is in way worse shape than it was, college is beyond dumbed down, and on top of that, housing is insanely expensive so these people haven't even moved out of their parents' house, or if they have, their parents are paying for their apartment.
The transitional period to adulthood for millennials was soft and ineffective. For zoomers, there really isn't a transitional period. They're still treated like children so why would they not feel like children?

College isn't even just dumbed down, it's brain dead at this point. I'm taking an online class and I forgot a couple assignments, no big deal, did well enough in the class to get a b minus anyway. Come time for grade posting, teacher forgot to even mark them zero so I got a B plus. What incentive does that give me to try harder? It's ridiculous.
