I don't think it is appropriate for Jews to be attacked due to a war on the other side of the world. One example I gave was a Jew who supported violations of human rights on the other side of the world. Just highlighted the hypocrisy. If we support international law and human rights we would condemn those people. Like we condemned Imans supporting terrorism. But we don't condemn those that support far worse crimes than what Hamas engaged in.Not to mention Hamas survived only because of Netanyahu. Netanyahu saw some terrorism against his people as a way to justify the ethnic cleansing and apartheid. The illegal settlements and the horrendous never ending subjugation of the Palestinian people. It was never a secret he refused to acknowledge Palestine. Held a map just weeks before Oct 7 where Palestine did not exist. The west knew he supported Hamas. I think its important not to generalize by saying "Australians". These are the acts of a small number of, mentally ill people. They don't reflect the wider population of Australia. Too often the media, and others with a vested interest. Would like you to believe this is the normal, for all Jews and other ethnic groups. The people who commit these acts, are mentally ill. They aren't champions for their cause or represent the views of a majority of Australia's population. 99% of the Aussies Ive come across, are simply trying to make it through the week, for a paycheck. Many aren't invested in the conflict, nor do they wish to be, its not their struggle. I believe its wrong to expect them to fall into line on one side or the other. Yes it is getting worse. Not as much as implied though.Then so is Islamophobia..but the press downplays that.But also most claims of antisemitism are not. They love to play the victim card and abuse the term antisemitic to try and suppress valid criticism. One attack against a Jew was called antisemitism. I would think in a legal sense it was. Not advisable and certainly not worth the potential consequences. But. That particular Jew supported far worse atrocities being committed against Palestinians. Supported the Burning of cars and homes in the West Bank. The burning down of entire villages. The hate crimes and vandalism of Palestine's Christian churches.
