The only reason Silicon Valley leaned towards the dems was because they actually believed the "demographics is destiny" which was fashionable back in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Basically that the GOP was doomed and that Latinx and milliennial voters would bring alone a single party state for the Dems and that young voters would vote dem on a 60-30 ratio forever and ever. So tech bros decided to align with the "winning side" in order to protect their interests.

This of course, turned out to be false. Now that Orange Man won the popular vote and a big support among young voters and minority demographics it completely killed the "doomed party" narrative which so many political "analysts" preached as gospel for a decade. So Silicon Valley is going through a re-alignment according to future convenience.

No, it's because neolibs have always been Democrat-leaning. They just wanted to see more reasonable policies based on good economics.

Instead we got "defund the police", safetyism, anarchotyranny, calls to censor "malinformation", competency crises, etc. The backlash has been brewing for a while and tech elites are rebelling by failing to "hold the line" against Trump. Will they go back to the Dems someday? Yes, probably, and it's a given if there's a Democrat win in 2028 - however, the support will be tepid at best because neither party cares about competent governance anymore (and the voters are absolutely to blame for this.) But they realize that being constrained by the dictates of Bluesky activists for the next four years is economic suicide. DEI initiatives were tried and the the chuds are being vindicates on their being a disaster in most environments. The pendulum swings back, hopefully for the next 30 years or so.
