The tail is wagging the dog. This is the state of education. And I've been thinking about whether this is the result of decades-long movements that promote individualism over collective interests, choice over service, personal needs over public health, fascism over civil discourse, and reparative justice over ACTUAL and meaningful justice. (These are problems that spring from misguided ideologies on BOTH sides of the political spectrum.) All this of course is coupled with the social disasters wrought by covid.

We all (or most of us) want equity. Most of us want to be culturally relevant. Most of us want to help our most troubled and angry students find a better way for themselves, to hear out their problems, to model pro-social behaviors. We all want to be physically and mentally healthy, and we cannot be expected to solve the ills of society. Certainly not alone.

We want to TEACH because we are TEACHERS. What we are NOT are the following:

-Punching bags -Political footballs -Enemies of progress -Easily replaced laborers

We need more support from admin, school boards, and parents. We are on the side of good. We need your help and your alliance. Now!
