Being fat is the exception because it's not treated as a medical issue.
The moment they diagnose you with a "mental illness" that they can't show was pre-existing and warrants a med discharge, the government owes you money for the rest of your life. Cheaper to just ignore them until their contract is up unless they're a genuine issue.

Yeah the VA is a lot better about paying out claims than they used to be. The upshot is that it's easier to take advantage of so MEPS is much harder to get through than it used to be, and they'll tolerate weirder behavior because they don't want to give you a diagnosis.

the solution is the same as the one for having women in the military. 95% of them shouldn't be in combat roles and you keep them in the back. Except for the fact that it takes away from the frontline being like an equal chance lottery system which increases brotherhood because it could have been you, and now instead you just have bitter soldiers on the frontline who have nothing in common with the people in the back.
