It is very common for the powerjannies to search for 6 month old content, copy the title and post, repost it, then quietly remove the old post.
Once the janny squad brought Gallowboob into their circle he routinely removed competing content so his could rack up points.

It could be that they are out to lunch or don't care.
It could also be due to bullying. Often when a a janny across multiple subreddits gets angry at someone else for contradicting them, they punish them by kicking them off of other subreddits till they get their way.
Since there is a contest in that crowd for who has the biggest moderator number (yes there is a real server where you can do this) this is how psycho jannies bully people who are just doing it for fun.
