one of the major big topics of politics th at I'm not sure I'm up to writing is:
some people perform this reduction, this act of reducing a performance to a performance, as if to make it mean nothing.
I think the root of this is seeing 'virtue signaling' in a lot of loosely empty leftist posturing.
but: the performance actually matters. Feeling like you have control of your environment actually matters.
so the validity of the act of putting words on a wall shouldn't be questioned; of course it's a performance, of course paint is just paint. it still matters.
of the things which come from Trumpism, the diversity words getting painted over is the least bothersome. let them have their wall. let them celebrate painting over it. it's only paint. it still matters.
these things are cyclical: in 10 years we could be painting words on it again. honestly I think that kind of thing is tacky but I'm a closet conservative in many ways. (the thing that offends me about Trumpism is his corruption and lack of integrity, not his political positions)
