You vote for Trump to troll the most annoying people on the left. Of course it's all theatre, it's politics.
But also remember Trump thinks of himself as a master negotiator, someone who can make impossible deals happen. The last few weeks he's essentially been enjoying calling the bluff of anyone in positions of power, including the leaders of other countries, who have tried to 'keep their principles' to say they can't be bullied by the US.
Fact is, yes they can. And they know Trump is far more likely to actually just bulldoze their protestations with a boorish use of power than be bluffing to 'keep good relations'. Just look at how completely the Colombian president caved when he tried to stop what Trump wanted.
Right now, he's doing what his supporters want: kicking out illegal immigrants, rolling back omnipresent DEI, and shutting down the peepeewaving of smaller countries that his supporters think have no position to threaten the USA. He's 'America, frick yeah!' personified.
