REMEMBER YOUR OATH, BRAVE SOLDIERS!

:#soymad: "I'm feeling so defeated and depressed as a two fed family. I can't take much more of this."
:#soymad: "I have honestly cried most of the day today. ."
:#soymad: "I've been scared for myself and my friends/work family."
:#soymad: "I'm a middle school social studies teacher and everything I keep seeing just makes me think of 1930s Germany or 1950s Russia."
:#soymad: "I did not sign up to be customer service rep to die and compromise my health. I'm bordering suicidal and had to have my antidepressants upped today."

R-slurs weren't paid to say r-slurred shit, they just said r-slurred shit because they were r-slurred

Paying "people" to squak r-slurred talking points isn't astoturfing?

well no, because X is paying them

astroturfing is like BrooklynDadDefiant who gets boosted by the DNC to larp as a heckin' wholesome normal guy who seethes at trump everyday.

it's like saying onlyfans whores are astroturfed because they earn money on onlyfans

You are paying people to say things, not because they are expressing themselves, but because they want to say the things that make the most money. Paying for fake grass.

but if that's your definition, then every news anchor on CNN, MSNBC and Fox is astroturfed, right?

No, becauss they don't pretend they are your everyday joe on the internet. Newspapers can be propagandized, not astroturfed.

hmmm okay i agree that there's a distinction between an average joe opining vs. an openly paid representative of a media company

but i think you need to concede that there's a difference between a political party secretly boosting an average joe vs. an average joe exploiting a payment model on a website that encourages clicks

because otherwise you'd have to say that any independent youtuber is astroturfed because they always have an incentive to make a video that's more clickbaity vs. their true and honest opinion

More comments

not if they're paid regardless of what they say. they get paid for engagement, not for spreading a message. the latter is called astroturfing.
