!commenters Compare /r/ATC's reception from a year ago vs. now

A year ago: moderately receptive, many commenters are appreciative that someone is finally uncovering the scandal

Now: mass downmarseys, complete contempt, not even bothering to engage with the article (despite being much shorter)

Trump has caused the left-of-center to circle the wagons. Half of America will never admit any issues with DEI for at least four more years. Sorry @TracingWoodgrains

:#marseyitsallsotiresome: but unironically

Trump is mostly composed of r-sluration and grift, and his fans gobble it up in way probably best described by @BWC. And this somehow mogs the left on honesty and coherency.

You can't compare reception based on two reddit threads. Even if the make up of power posters in that sub didn't change at all in a year (doubtful), the early comments on any reddit post set the tone of upmarseyd comments. The title, thumbnail image, perceived context, are all minor things that will change how a reddit comment thread will respond to the same content.

Your base assumption is that any Redditors are actually reading most of the article they respond to - they're not. It's all vibes. A year ago, if the first substantive comment was supportive and had two or three upmarseys quickly, that's all it would have taken to set the standard for response. Same here

Reddit is fundamentally and algorithmically r-slurred and not reflective, ever, of real world beliefs

In this case it's because /r/atc is currently infested with plane crash tourists who want to dunk on muskrat and the orange one
