Leafs are unironically r-slurred. Without the US they wouldn't be shit. They're a relatively low population country that's concentrated to a handful of urban areas. If Canada ever became a problem we'd absolutely r*pe them and absorb them.

Canada has always been a nation that has squandered its potential. We had an opportunity to carve out an identity for ourselves in the aftermath of the WW1 where we proved our independence, but instead we simply coasted off our ties to Britain and America, selling them resources but doing little to actually develop ourselves. We pretend that superficial symbols are a meaningful expression of cultural identity while decrying the idea of nationalism, right up until someone rightfully calls us out for being America light, at which point we devolve into a screeching fit of nationalism.
There is no good reason for the largest, most resource-rich nation in the world, surrounded on all sides by oceans, save for a border with the strongest nation on the planet, to be this woefully underdeveloped. If we weren't constantly hamstringing ourselves with bureaucratic bullshit and vacuous sentimentality towards people who hate us, we would probably be the second strongest nation in the world.
