Asahi Linux is fricking dumb and I don't know why anyone would ever use it and the amount of cover it gets is fricking cringe and frick you I'll keep making a run on sentence and why would you spend the $$$ to buy a spiffy new ARM Mac and run a piece of software designed to suck fricking butt and lose every fricking advantage of ARM anyway because fricking FOSStards are doing it for free and more worried about pronouns than fricking battery life.

As a long term Arch Linux user :marseydramautist: , I have to admit the M series MacBooks absolutely btfo any form of Linux based laptop.

The only thing I'd argue was better about my Linux machine is the ergonomics of a true tiling wm. I like Rectangle a lot for tiling on Mac, but i3 is objectively better as a keyboard centric window manager. Rectangle is like 90% as good though, and it has some advantages over i3 (mouse gestures are really nice).

I run Arch on my server and I mostly work in the terminal anyway, so the MacBook as a front end works quite well.

It's basically identical to i3, but built using janky hacks like moving windows offscreen to emulate proper workspaces (which OSX really doesn't have)

I use Linux because I prefer that Unix backbone and DNA.

If I buy a Mac I'm running OSX until the thing dies because it still has said DNA.

Also the only ARM chip worth a darn is the M series.

This is spot on.

Good post daddy.

Apple has very good quality virtuzalition technology so ARM vms run at basically native speeds on ARM Macs. The only benefit ashai linux has is some jank x86 linux gaming solutions using piles of translation layers and an Apple Silicon Vulkan port. !applechads
