when i was a freshman, two upperclassmen (future marines) somehow convinced their dads (drinking buddies and former marines) to beat the shit out of my AFJROTC instructor. when he came back to school, he was really skittish and had two black eyes and a cut up face that lasted for weeks. it really changed the way i saw teachers.

before that, teachers had that air of mystery and authority about them, especially this guy because he was a career fighter pilot. after that, i knew that most teachers were losers.

i think now that schools are so full of mentally ill political activists, kids really need something to provide context like that.

Running into your teacher at the grocery store when you're a kid is mind-blowing. Feels like reality is broken.

I had a teacher who was a 5'3" dude that was a part of the 100m sprinting Olympic team. I found him in his car eating hot chips in the parking lot when I was 11.

My dad was a professor so I always took pride seeing my teachers as adults, knowing they were my dad's friends as well.

Then I saw your teacher.
