Not really no. This might surprise the frick out of you, but transgender as a concept has existed outside America for thousands of years.
Generally transgender means you don't have the necessary genitals of either a man or a woman.
Like a man without balls would be considered a transgender. That is generally the form transgender took for the majority of history. It had nothing to do with changing your gender as you didn't go from man to woman or woman to man, but were instead your own separate group which could not function as either one of those.

Turns out when you taking away reproduction from a human, the only thing left to do is the pursuit of power through whatever means necessary. Eunuch advisors were the genius neurodivergents of the ancient world. Partially true. A population is still made of the individual. Social species allow for specialization but even in that scenario reproduction being limited to a very small specialized share of the population only works for social insect species where everybody is practically a sibling/ clone of one another.
For social herd species like apes, you can have greater tolerable deviation to the extent of 5-10% of the herd not reproducing if the reproductive rate is around 4 - 8 offspring (excluding humans who have a far higher survival rate for offspring than other Earth life forms ) for the female within her lifetime for the rest of the group, but would still fail after the non-reproductive group share passes a certain threshold.
Even for the human, the required fertility rate to balance out 10% of the herd not reproducing at all would be 2.33 per woman who does reproduce. For 20% of the herd not reproducing it would be 2.625 children per woman who does reproduce. For 40% of the herd not reproducing it would be 3.5 children per woman who do reproduce.
