Irony and edgelordism used to be fun in the past but at this point they have become so common that they no longer pack any punch.
Like, it used to be that if you saw some guy calling himself HitlerSuperSoldierGasTheJews say that he literally wants to murder all blacks and Jews, there was a bit of a subversive thrill to the whole thing. Nowadays there are 10 million young edgelords saying it on all sorts of social media. Obviously at most corporate jobs you'll still be fired if you say it out loud, but the fact that it's all over the Internet makes it effectively mainstream. It seems that nowadays we have literal third-worlders pretending to be Chad EVROPA ARYANS on X to farm engagement.
As for irony, that shit was already old 20 years ago. Sensitive, vaguely intellectual hipster wannabes wore it out. I remember back in the day feeling like half of the geeky men at every party I went to were doing the same thing of trying out cringy ironic humor on each other while awkwardly standing around sucking on beers. I'd try to watch Adult Swim or whatever with these kinds of people and think "wait, when does it start being funny?". But it never did. There's a whole gaggle of millennials who grew up for some reason deriving humor from cheaply animated random absurd stuff. "Like whoa man, it's so ABSURD, LIKE IT MAKES NO FRICKING SENSE BRO!!! IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE IT'S NOT FUNNY BRO!!!".
