This is insane. These are terms that an empire imposes upon newly conquered colony when it wants to strip mine it quickly. That's exactly the kind of plan that Putin can take, show to so called Global South countries and ask 'see? I was telling you Ukraine is selling itself to US. Do you ever want to end up like this?'
When the first time the idea of resources deals surfaced and Scholz jumped all over it, I was defending it because I thought it was some kind of 'ok, you will have right to setup mining operations in Donbas' and since dislodging Russia from Donbas is currently not very realistic (and would require insane amount of rebuilding), it could have acted as convenient, but meaningless 'win' that Trump could show his supporters. But looks like once again I have failed to appreciate depravity that he would sink to.

Good, ukraine didnt listen to USA when they were warned initially, they laughed off the invasion threat along with europeans. Now you must pay the price. World is a tough place get used to it.

The harsh reality is that Ukraine does not really have a choice. Either the US or Russia will have control over these resources. As much as I hate Trump, I would rather go with the US.
