the directors are still gonna make movies with ai and the biggest actors will get money just for copyrighting their faces and not even work anymore, only the hard working special effects crew and cameramen will be affected

Well, give it another generation and the actors will be irrelevant too. Maybe they'll start with face scanning and mo-cap of real people who will get a tiny royalty forever, but the Hollywood mega-stars are 100% replaceable as actual actors making $10-$100 million per movie. The directors may still exist though. Someone has to be calling the shots.

The idea definitely isn't new, wasn't there some buzz at the turn of the millennium about the first "all digital actress"? Whatever happened there?

If anything they'll just have generative AI fill out 90% and have animators go over it after instead of spending hundreds of thousands on minutes of cgi. They use it a little bit now but eventually I expect it to handle most of the heavy lifting
