NEW FALSE DOGE CLAIMS?
A friend knowledgeable about govt contracting noticed some DOGE claims of money saved that are... unusual.
I'm trying to follow his explanation. I might just share DM screenshots and let you all figure it out lol.
I haven't seen these reported.

Why is being outdated hot garbage when it performs its function and is cheap?
I design large systems like this for a living. Approaching the reliability of what they have would be extremely difficult, cost a vast amount of money and take many years to deploy. There isn't a modern equivalent to COBOL that allows plain English programming of program rules. Previous projects on both government and private sector (airline bookings is a good example SABRE is older than this) have spent vast sums of money and delivered nothing because its not an easy problem to solve. OPM have been advising agencies not to try whole system replacements for about 15 years now, they just don't work. It also can't be replaced unless you replace the IRS master files first, SSA maintained MEF in the old format because its a data export from the IRS.
I don't see any particular reason to move away from it, people just think its old. C is old too.
