The Gainesville Intermediate School was aware Carranza was being bullied and mocked by students who told the young girl she would be left alone when her parents got deported. It had gotten so aggressive, Carranza was meeting with a school counselor multiple times a week. Her family, however, was never notified.
The school decided not to loop in the parents (Likely to avoid making themselves look bad) and it ended in the death of a child. Naturally everyone blames Trump for this instead of corrupt administrators and teachers

Because they can't tell who's who on the street. In a school you just go to the office, have them call some students to the office and then detain them. Easy, fast and safe for all.

I've never seen any actual evidence ICE is storming schools or churches, beyond a potential "retrieving a specific child whose parents have been taken into custody".
Plenty of people posting signs and Reddit comments about ICE setting up green card checkpoints in the hallways

Yes. The signs if they're being posted are more likely to be leftists trying to warn people the best way they know how, by keeping everyone as terrified and paranoid as possible. 'ICE is hurting children!' wail the people constantly telling the children that if they're not careful, the ICE boogeyman will come get them and everyone they love.
But they're not wrong that making it public is part of the point. The more ICE seems like a looming threat, the more illegal immigrants are more likely to self-deport, try and become legal, or not come to the country at all. And again, the leftists help this. Even if ICE focuses on the illegal immigrants that have committed crimes, these people will tell everyone they're after all latinx, which makes them look like racist r-slurs to anyone not high on their supply of outrage and panic.
