Listen, I can understand why they want to do this as CYA in this dangerous world (trafficking, shootings, etc), but they need to find a better process.
So I was staying in a 1-bdrm DVC resort. Was alone in the room, it was mid-afternoon. Went in for a nice hot shower, walked out of my bathroom undressed to find a strange man standing in my bedroom. He saw everything before I could run back into the bathroom. He apologized profusely as he exited, saying he was a cast member and just doing their daily room safety check. And yes, I had put on the safety lock and the sign on the knob outside. Apparently they're able to by-pass that lock. So he knew I had the safety lock on, which you can only put on from the inside. And he made it to my bedroom without apparently hearing me in the shower.
Apparently this is policy and a common occurrence:
When we stayed at OKW we got room checked EVERY DAY during nap time for the first 4 days. Like "do not disturb" sign on the door and safety lock locked. They full on walked in the room and saw me sleeping with my kid in the dark and just stared as if they were shocked that we were in a room that clearly said do not disturb.
Yep this happened to us at the polynesian last month. My daughter wasn't feeling well so she was napping. I went to use the bathroom and came out to a man standing in our room. I heard the knock first and quickly exited the bathroom, but he had already entered. It was super fricking weird.
I came back to the room before the rest of my family, but was expecting them to arrive soon, so I didn't put the lock on the door. I went to take a shower and I hear the room door open, and I assume it's my husband and kids. I literally am talking loudly from the bathroom to (who I think is) them. But no, it's housekeeping doing a room check. She doesn't respond at all and opens the bathroom door while I'm showering! Like, seriously?! Then she acts like she didn't hear any of this or the water running and apologizes and leaves. Then they call a few minutes later saying they need to do a room check, even though she already did. THEN they show up 30 minutes to check again. It's just ridiculous how it's all done.
The first time I was victim to a Disney room check was 2021. My best friend and I (both 33F) were staying at Pop Century. We were sleeping in and at 7am two male CMs start knocking on the door and key into the room. We had the safety latch on so they could only open it a few inches.
7am lol
As someone pointed out in the comments, how hasn't anyone shot a cleaner yet? Florida wouldn't even arrest you - you'd be in Magic Kingdom in time for the fireworks.

Hotels are terrified of someone locking themselves in their room for days, setting up some kind of killing ground and then detonating a bomb or something. Checking every room every day gives them a way to say "we tried"

Wrong. Larry Silverstein had the guns and ammo hidden in a secret stash during the hotel's construction. He had already planned for the shooter to be drugged and brainwashed by John Podesta during a spirit cooking party, then bundled into the room to do the deed.
