Just because it's a joke to you doesn't mean the person has to suck it up and har har har at it. Especially if it actually made said person feel insulted. Jest and teasing quickly cross over into belittling and bullying once a person expresses they are not enjoying it.:

I don't know who the butthole is. They were quite happily joking about Kool Aid cocktails to begin with. She does have a point though, tap water is pretty gross and artificial sweeteners are less than ideal. However it is far more commonplace for a guy to try to 'educate' the woman, often totally unprompted, giving lots of unsolicited advice etc. He did sound a bit sensitive with the big paragraph saying way you're attacking my city and my water taking it really personally, when he as an individual doesn't control the city water (but what he buys to drink is his choice) and she didn't make objective statements a personal insult directed at him. I feel like women are more likely to have dozens of convos like this or take personal remarks but just keep their opinion to themselves and not argue, whereas I wonder if OP has ever had a woman disagree with him before. I wonder if it's my own internalised misogyny making me think if a woman disagrees or argues (even in a lighthearted way and...:

Honestly I think you two are just very different people who happen to have certain quirks and ways of living and communicating that contradict each others wants and needs, I don't think you're wrong here at all, but I also don't think she's being a bad person here, just a difficult one, I think she needs to be with someone who lets her go on her rambles and doesn't take them personally, but also knows how to take the piss out of things in life and doesn't take themselves too seriously either. She'll probably get into arguments with them too because it seems like she's pretty immature in that respect, i don't think she can see her own flaws and I think you're not the person who would be able to point them out to her in a way that would help her grow, I also don't think it's your job to do so. I reckon you'd get along a whole lot better with someone who has better communication skills and maybe doesn't have a mean sense of humour, I genuinely don't think she was tryna be cruel with wh...:

To me this looks like a case of both people being wrong, but not equally so. She was overly sensitive about the criticisms. Many people have a bad habit of too closely associating thing with themselves, then seeing an attack on things they like as an attack on them. Obviously, from a psychological perspective, this isn't a healthy reaction. But it's also an overly defensive action not an aggressive one.But OP (I'm assuming)...you were way in the wrong when you decided that she wasn't allowed to end the conversation. She attempted to retreat and let things settle. This is OK, and honestly a healthy move. When she said she didn't want to talk anymore, that should have been the end of it. But you seemingly took it personal. And while I can understand that the exchange bothered you, and may have felt urgent, it's nobody's responsibility to manage your feelings about it but yours. You and only you needed to settle things immediately. She wasn't telling you to frick off forever...just that...:
