She didn't deserve an Oscar for capeshit. For that matter, Jamie Lee Curtis shouldn't have won either. Kerry Condon should have won for The Banshees of Inisherin.

Reading the article, though, I think it's fine for someone to be disappointed to not win a prize for something they think they did well enough to win. We expect actors to be egoless enough to be happy for their competition, but I think it's fair, and funny, when they can't manage in that moment to pretend that they didn't want it.

Amy Poehler talks about how even if you try not to care about the awards, you can't help it, even if just in the moment between the envelope opening and the name being read out. I know that's been my experience, so I don't begrudge more human reactions, even when I disagree that they deserved it. And to be fair, it's not like she was bad, though the film was. It's just there were others who were better.

She deserved an oscar for Whats Love Got to Do with It, but man thinking you were cheated out of best supporting actress for Black Panther 2(!) is ridiculous

True. Though it's hard to argue against Holly Hunter as well.

Basically, singling out one performance as the best is a fool's errand, yet that's the whole point of the Oscars. But they're also notorious for getting it wrong more often than right.
